Hi folks, and Happy New Year!
You may be wondering where the public beta of CueDeck has got to, since I hinted it would be available in December 2011. Well, it’s been slightly delayed, but for good reason. I’ve recently bought a suite of WPF controls from Telerik – and there’s one control in particular that will add a significant feature to the interface. In particular, the ability to quickly rearrange tracks in any of the decks – and hopefully enable the ability to simply drag a track from on deck to another.
It all sounds pretty simple, but it’s quite tricky to do well and in a way that is intuitive. I always wanted to have drag n’ drop functionality in CueDeck, but only if it complimented the intuitive user interface. Telerik’s controls allow me to add that functionality with very little coding on my part, however it does mean making a fundamental change to the way in which tracks are ordered within a playlist. It’s this fundamental change that’s taking a little longer than I’d hoped, so hold in there! We’re talking weeks not months here.
Stay tuned!
